Executive Officer

Position Descriptions

"...Student Senate considers a student’s education at Lycoming College focused on the total development of the individual.  Extra-curricular programs, activities, and events are essential to students’ intellectual growth and personal development.  Just as the classroom experience provides a forum for new thoughts, ideas, and opinions, so does the extra curricular program through exposure to educational and social programs, student leadership, and volunteer service activities.  Students’ involvement in the governance of the college as well as the various clubs and organizations is essential to enhancing the quality of student life..."

 
   
Executive President
Duties are as follows:
1. To act as president over the student body;
2. To call and preside over meetings of Student Senate;
3. To appoint student representatives or hold a special election in the event of a vacancy left by a student unable to fulfill his/her obligations;
4. To act as a liaison between the student body and the faculty, administration, staff, alumni, and trustees to ensure open communication between Student Senate and the appointed advisors;
5. To monitor the actions of the faculty and administration to ensure student rights are preserved;
6. To announce the business before Student Senate in the order it is to be acted upon;
7. Responsible for bringing before the executive council any Student Senate member not fulfilling his or her obligations.
8. Elected by the Student Body in an election scheduled by the Executive Vice President.
9. Has a vote on issues presented to Student Senate in the event of a tie;

Executive Vice President
Duties are as follows:
1. To assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President and to succeed that office in the event of a vacancy;
2. To act as chairperson of the elections committee;
3. To coordinate all general elections of Student Senate with the aid of an elections committees appointed at the beginning of the year;
4. To coordinate all special events in conjunction with the appropriate administrative office and with the aid of a committee to be appointed by the Vice President
5. Oversee the Parliamentarian
6. Elected by the student body in an election scheduled by the Executive Vice President.
7. Has a vote on issues presented to Student Senate

Vice President of Communications
Duties are as follows:
1. To keep the minutes of all meetings of Student Senate;
2. To announce and inform all Student Senate members of meetings;
3. To maintain the files of Student Senate which include paper work on student organizations and of the treasurer;
4. To organize and distribute a newsletter when relevant material arises, to all faculty departments, administration, organizations and staff.
5. To contact all Student Senate members when removed or when in danger of being removed in accordance to the attendance policy;
6. Elected by the student body in an election scheduled by the Executive Vice President.
7. Has a vote on issues presented to Student Senate.
8. Archive all minutes of the Student Senate.
9. Serve as chair of the Public Relations Committee in conjunction with the appropriate administrative office and with the aid of a committee appointed by the Vice President of Communications.

Vice President of Finance
Duties are as follows:
1. To oversee all financial transactions of Student Senate;
2. To ensure efficient management of student funds gained from the Student Activity Fee;
3. To chair a committee of all student organization treasurers to review use of student funds for special programming; in addition to, the accountant serving in the Dean of Student Affairs Office.
4. To act as liaison between Student Senate and the College’s Controller
5. Elected by the student body in an election scheduled by the Executive Vice President.
6. Has a vote on issues presented to Student Senate.
7. Oversee inventory of all organizations’ supplies
