PAST EVENTS:

Battle of the Bands:

The Battle of the Bands was held on February 8, 2008 at 7:30pm in the Recreation Center at Lycoming College. The event was co-sponsored by the Pre-health Society and the Black History Month Planning Committee and was partially funded by SSLC. The event was a a great success! We publicized through e-mail and posters, asked for donations from many restaurants and businesses, contacted several local bands, and laid out a plan of the big event. The money raised for ticket sales would benefit The Center and CAPPA (Community Alliance for Progressive Positive Action). The concessions sold during the concert benefited the Pre-Health Society for future speakers and events.  We had the following bands perform: Hayley, Rocky 3, Flood, John Scarangello, Hope Lies Beyond, and Final Dose. All types of guests were invited; Lycoming and Penn College student tickets were $3 while general admission was $5. In the end result, $578 were made in ticket sales, CAPPA and The Center each received $289 each. There was a split for the winning band through audience applause judging; John Scarangello and Hayley both were declared winners and received $115 each.  The Battle of the Bands also introduced Step Up dance for at-risk girls when they performed their dance before the show began.  Two local hip hop singers concluded the show.  The Pre-Health Society also raised $97 in concessions.
