Week 10

Amber Nace was nominated by her classmates for her outstanding efforts in running the SMART program, for her extensive campus involvement, and for her good academics.

Name: Amber Nace

Major: Psychology

Minor: Theatre

Hometown: Granville, PA

Hobbies: Acting, Swimming

Campus Activities: Creative Arts Society, SMART, Community Service Scholar, Autism Walk, Hand-In-Hand, Psychology Club, and various theatre productions at Lycoming.

Activities Outside of Campus: Tutor for High School Geometry, Relay For Life, Swimming Instructor for YMCA, Assistant to hometown Girl Scout Troop, Trinity United Methodist Church youth group, Americore Scholar

Amber's favorite thing about Lycoming is all of the friends she has made in such a great, warm environment.  She feels that her greatest accomplishment in college so far was taking over the management of SMART and landing roles in two main stage productions.  She looks forward to taking classes that will encourage her and make her more confident in herself and her future.  Amber's favorite freshman memory was taking chairs outside on a nice day and doing homework with a group of about 15 friends.   In addition, Amber plans on making the Dean's list for the next two semesters as her future goal.

Ashley Lubold

Week 8

 Danielle Madenford.  Danielle was nominated by a classmate for her positive attitude and her work as a leader in several campus organizations.  She has worked hard to help others and has put a large amount of time in creating a new campus club - the AMA.

Major: Business Management

Minor/Special Program: French

Hometown: Pine Grove, PA

Hobbies: Dancing, Singing, and Theatre

Campus Activities: Dance Club, Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority - Formal Chair, French Club, SOS Leader, American Marketing Association Treasurer

Off Campus Activities: Job at GAP, Dancer at the L.A. Dance Studio

Danielle has enjoyed her time at Lycoming so far.  Her most favorite memory from freshman year was being able to play in the snow before the Christmas break.  She feels that her greatest accomplishments in college so far have been joining AST and teaching dance at the YMCA for underprivileged children.  She looks forward to the season changes this year, more specifically the pretty snowstorms and springtime on the quad.  Danielle is shooting to become an executive officer in AST and to maintain a 3.5 GPA or better this year.  She loves Lycoming's squirrel population, and her favorite quote states "dance like no one is watching." 

 

Week 7

It is my pleasure to announce this week's Sophomore Spotlight Student, Jeff Rosenheck.  Jeff was nominated by his fellow officers and classmates for his dedication and hard work as the Class of 2011 President.  Jeff has worked hard both last year and this year to make the current Sophomore class stronger, and more enjoyable.  He has sacrificed himself by getting food thrown at him for a Relay fundraiser, and has worked hard on this year's Hall Crawl, among other events.

Minor/Special Program: Secondary Education, Political Science

Hometown: Pine City, NY

Hobbies: Firefighting, travelling, and hanging out with friends

Campus Activities: CAB, Student Senate, Food Committee Chair, Residential Life Advisory Board, SOS, SPSEA, Circle K K-Family Chair

Off Campus Activities: Volunteer Firefighter and EMT, Substitute Teacher, Hebrew Language Teacher and Tutor

Jeff has enjoyed his time at Lycoming so far.  His most favorite memory from freshman year was the Spring Formal, and working with his class officers. Jeff feels that his greatest accomplishment in college so far was being elected class President twice, and making the Dean's List.  He is looking forward to a fun-filled year for all and hopes to work with the class officers and other clubs to create some great events that will be enjoyable and beneficial to local charity groups.  Jeff loves Lycoming's small size, the great friends he has made, and the talented professors that he works with each day. Jeff's favorite quote is to "live life to its fullest and have no regrets."

 

Week 6

It is my pleasure to announce this week's Sophomore Spotlight Student, Robert Hamell.  Bob was nominated by several classmates for his dedication and hard work as the Student Senate Execute Vice President of Finance.  He has adjusted well to his new position and has been fair and reasonable with all clubs and organizations.  Bob is also willing to move past differences and work together for the betterment of Lycoming College.  Finally, Bob was also willing to step in and serve as a referee for the recent Powder puff Game.

Hometown: Morrisville, PA

Hobbies: Paintball, Hanging out with Friends

Campus Activities: CAB, CAC, Habitat for Humanity, Food Committee and Student Senate Executive Board

Off Campus Activities: Painter

Bob has enjoyed his time at Lycoming so far.  His most favorite memory from freshman year was the Relay for Life and the Spring Break trip for Habitat, and feels his greatest accomplishment in college was winning the Class of 2008 scholarship.  He looks forward to having a lot of fun this year, and is shooting to bring changes to campus that everyone can enjoy this year.  Bob loves Lycoming's small size and the friendly professors he sees each day. Bob's favorite quote is one many live by each day, "be the change you wish to see in the world." 

 

Week 5

It is my pleasure to announce this week's Sophomore Spotlight Student, Maggie Benshaw.  Maggie was nominated by a classmate for her dedication and hard work as the CAB Vice President.  She has worked hard helping to organizing the CAB retreat this year despite a hectic work and academic schedule.

Minor/Special Program: Secondary Education

Hometown: Williamsport, PA

Hobbies: Sewing, Quilting, and Hip-Hop Dancing

Campus Activities: CAB VP, Freshman RA, Intramural Volleyball and Basketball

Off Campus Activities: Job at TJ Maxx, and a Dancer for Milissa Augustine in Williamsport, PA

Maggie has enjoyed her time at Lycoming so far.  Her most favorite memory from freshman year was being able to go to Boston for Intramural Basketball champions, and feels her greatest accomplishment in college is becoming the Vice President of CAB as a Sophomore.  She looks forward to observing a classroom through the Education department this year, and is shooting to make the Dean's List this year.  Maggie loves Lycoming's small size and the ability to know everyone.  She says that it reminds her of her high school.  Maggie's favorite quote states "when a job has once begun, do not quit until its done...be it a labor great or small, do it right or not at all." 

 

Week 4

It is my pleasure to announce this week's Sophomore Spotlight Student, Melody Johnson.  Melody was nominated by a classmate for her dedication and hard work on the class's upcoming Powder puff Football fundraiser.  Melody has become the team captain and is working hard to prepare the team members for the upcoming competition on October 5th.

Major: English, and hopefully Creative Writing

Minor: Psychology

Hometown: East Stroudsburg, PA

Hobbies: Reading, Painting, Swimming and playing the flute

Campus Activities: Swim Team, Lycoming Band, and Flute Lessons

Off Campus Activities: Lifeguard and singer for St. Boniface Choir

Melody has enjoyed her time at Lycoming so far.  Her most favorite memory from freshman year was the Spring 2008 formal, and feels her greatest accomplishments in college include making the Dean's List and also the MAC championship in both the 100 meter freestyle and 100 meter backstroke, all goals she is striving to reach again this year.  Melody loves the weekly CAB sponsored movies, and the great music and English departments since she feels that she can always go away feeling like she learned something new.  Melody's favorite quote is from V for Vendetta; "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh; beneath this mask there is an idea and IDEAS ARE BULLETPROOF!"   A special thank you goes out to Melody for all of her hard work on campus.

This week we will feature Alison Lubold as the Class of 2011 student spotlight!

Alison was recommended by one of her peers for her outstanding work on the Student Senate Executive Board and for adjusting so well to a demanding position change, from our class Vice President to SSLC Parliamentarian.

Hobbies: Scrapbooking

Campus Activities: CAB; Colleges Against Cancer Relay For Life Co-Chair; Student Senate Parliamentarian; Habitat for Humanity; Intramural Soccer; Food Committee; GCAA Committee; SOS Staff; Residential Life Student Staff Member; Admissions Tour Guide; Community Service Center Staff; Phi Kappa Psi Sweetheart.

Off Campus Activities: American Cancer Society PA State Task Force Member; Member of the Shamokin Relay for Life's Survivor, Activity, and Youth Committees.

Alison's favorite thing about Lyco is the great people she has meet and worked with here.  She feels that her biggest accomplishment so far is becoming a sweetheart of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.  Her favorite freshmen memory of Lycoming College is the Class of 2011 Relay for Life fundraiser where she was able to throw food at Jeff Rosenheck, the class President.  Alison looks forward to the CAB trip to NYC this fall, and has set her goals high.  She is striving to make the Dean's List at put on an outstanding Relay for Life event on campus.  Her favorite quote is from the bible and that is, "Through God, all things are possible." 

A special congratulations to Alison Lubold for being the Class of 2011 student spotlight this week.  If you see Alison, make sure you congratulate her and thank her for all the hard work she does on Campus.

**A special congratulation also goes out to Alison's sister and our class Vice President, Ashley Lubold, who received a brick from the Residential Life Office for her outstanding service and dedication to the Lycoming community.
